Surfing in S.A.

Finally we got some photos from our first surfing lesson. You probably expect our pictures on the wave, but not this time. But one day there will be some.

Don’t know these guys.

Dressed in funny outfit they were listening for instructions.

Naive and ready they went towards the ocean. According to instructions they got to the waist depth. After a few waves their eyes and mouth were full of salty water. They were getting on the board and fell. And again. Until finally, the first caught wave and they are surfing. Well belly surfing, but still fun. One of them even tried to stand up for the few runs. But both of them ended the same near the shore – in the water. Anyway, it was really fun.

If I were to make some resolutions for the new year, that would be to learn surfing.

Dolphin cruise

Jelly fish in Port Adelaide. They say these are not poisonous and later there will be more of them.

For a few dollars we bought a dolphin tour.

It’s not surprising when you see industrial buildings in the port.

And here are the dolphins.

The banks.

Damn it, I can’t remember when and what they were manufacturing in those factories.

And here they are building a submarine.

You can also see some water birds here.

This place was very popular among people who decided to commit a suicide.

Historic part of Port Adelaide.

Flippers are here when you are leaving and when you are coming back.

🙂

I like the look of the dancer in the photo.

Afternoon nap or something like this.

Road Trip: Adelaide – Melbourne. Day 5.

On our first day at Melbourne we were sent very far (to the other side of the Earth).
“Go back to your fuckin’ country” – cried the local tramp. As we were ignoring that he was trying to shout something in Spanish. Something new, because since then everyone was trying to talk to us in German 😀

In the morning we got up early and went for a walk in Melbourne again.

The laundry of our hostel – just on the stairs. Batman street.

We were walking with the hope to find breakfast and coffee.

The city form the hostel window looked promising.

Of course, if you were looking in the right direction.

So we went to the district of cafes and little shops. Nice windows, nit trees… It’s started to rain. Then we realized that everything opens at about 12. We had to hide from the rain in the shop of weird clothes.

While waiting we took photos of the closed shops and galleries. It’s strange, isn’t it? Everything opens early in the morning in Adelaide, and closes at 5. And they say Adelaide is more relaxed 🙂 Sleep in!

Doesn’t it remind of the Camden Town int London?

Window residents.

This dog amazed us with it’s charm!

Laurius is staring at the potential breakfast place.

Finally we got our breakfast. One moment it was raining, and then the Sun was shining.

Frankly speaking, Melbourne looked like a quite green city.

Maybe it is rain that makes everything to be green.

We tried something Asian… Something.

Local China Town. I must admit, I like China Town in Adelaide more, though, it’s much smaller. In Melbourne everything is made more for tourists.

After a walk in the city, we went to the Royal Botanic Gardens.

Just look at those eyes!

Local bully.

We left Reda in the flower garden…

Very proud hen.

And really hilarious her chicks.

Mount Lofty

We haven’t been posting for a while, because we had a friend from Lithuania – Reda. We were on holidays, so to speak. One of the first days we had an attraction to go down the hill on bikes. We were picked from home, it was sunny, and we dressed quite light. However, on the top of the mountain it was fog. Or maybe it would be more accurate to say, the mountain was in the cloud. This was one of the cases when you don’t understand which direction it is raining.

We enjoyed the views of the fog. You don’t often see such thing in Adelaide. We haven’t seen a fog here since we moved here.

All three charming and ready.

Nice scenery.

Usually you see something like this.

Posers with helmets and gloves.

Going down. No need to pedal, just break.

The best view of the fog.

Big and noisy bird – Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoo (lat. Calyptorhynchus funereus). It’s hard to get a good shot of it. It’s either to high, or in the mist.

Part of the track was paved…

…part of it was orange.

We stopped at Cleland wildlife park to show Reda some local animals. Find a kangaroo here.

Red-browed Finch (lat. Neochmia temporalis).

What feet has this Eurasian Coot (lat. Fulica atra).

Sulphur-crested Cockatoo (lat. Cacatua galerita) on the left, and Wallaby on the right.
